Sunday, September 9—Holy Land
John & Mary Toft, Trinity members, offer highlights of their recent trip to the Holy Land, including the dramatic architectural and engineering achievements of King Herod the Great. His mountain fortress at Masada and sites at Caesarea by the Sea, including the famous 10,000 seat Hippodrome and the Aqueduct, are still standing. Catch beautiful glimpses, too, of the Holy City Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and the Sea of Galilee near where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount and fed the 5,000.
Both born in rural southwestern Iowa, John and Mary Toft spent their married years in eight states prior to retiring in northeastern Pennsylvania. They have four daughters: two in New Jersey, one in South Carolina, and one in Norman, OK. With all their moves, precipitated by John’s job, the church has always been a stabilizing force for them. Traveling extensively, their recent trip to Israel was most significant because it brought to reality things deeply important to them and made their faith clearer.
